Trophy: Best Rosé, National Wine Show Canberra.
Gold Medal [96 points]: Melbourne Wine Show.
The Otro Vino range produced by Stella Bella continues to gain momentum on the back of some great press and top wine show results.
Otro Vino, which literally means ‘other wine’, is a relatively new addition to the Stella Bella range.
The wines are all wild ferment, minimal intervention with no filtering, no fining – a different expression of Margaret River to the more traditional Stella Bella wines.
There is plenty to like about this Rosé, a blend of 88% Sangiovese, 10% Tempranillo and 2% Pinot Gris.
It is a very modern style that would not be out of place on the world stage
Aromatics are an attractive mix of floral and fresh berry / strawberries and the palate is more of the same with some spice and sour cherry notes adding to the appeal.
It simply over delivers in terms of texture, flavour, balance and length.
The cooler and later than normal 2019 vintage resulted in reduced yields but delivered exceptional fruit, classy wine making tops this off.
This is a limited release wine, unfortunately, but clearly is among the best handful of Rosés produced in WA, if not the best from this vintage.
