DOMAINE TOLLOT-BEAUT et FILS

Burgundy, France

Wine Maker: Nathalie Tollot

Tollot-Beaut are one of a group of pioneering Burgundian producers that started producing and bottling their own wines early in the 20th century.

The old adage that quality starts in the vineyard certainly applies here and Tollot-Beaut employ twice as many people in their vineyards than their neighbours, in order to control the vigour of the vines and accordingly produce riper, more concentrated fruit each vintage.

The wines tend to be lush and powerful compared to others, with purity of fruit and precision. In general the wines can show a brush of new oak in their youth but have the intensity of fruit to absorb this and they age extremely well.

The 2011 vintage is now in its prime, the 2016 is younger with plenty of cherry / raspberry fruits and will drink well over the next 5 years.

‘For the Tollots, the production of a truly fine wine is an amalgam of a multitude of smaller inter-related details. Their reds are highly individual, accentuating the ripe, succulent, almost sweet flavours of which the Pinot Noir is deliciously capable. The Tollots are a fine band of brothers and a reliable source of delicious wines – individuals, made collectively, of course.’ Remington Norman MW
