Tim Adams is well established as one of Australia’s leading independent winemakers, and Tim Adams Wines is recognised as one of the most successful Australian wine businesses.
Tim began his ‘apprenticeship’ under the legendary ‘Mr Mick’ Knappstein at Leasingham in the late 1970’s and recently had the opportunity to buy the Leasingham winery and assets [including vineyards] which lead to the launch of the Mr Mick wines, Tim Adams second label.
Our association with Tim Adams goes back to November 1992, over a quarter of a century and accordingly the Tim Adams brand is well established in WA.
The clear focus from the early years has been on varieties best suited to the Clare Valley – initially Riesling, Semillon, Grenache [The Fergus], Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Plantings of Pinot Gris and Tempranillo in the late 1990’s have added serious depth to the portfolio with the Tim Adams Pinot Gris, very much in Tim’s consistent ‘house style’, becoming a market leader. It makes perfect sense that this Alsace variety would work well alongside Riesling in the Clare Valley.
Volumes of these wines have grown strongly over the past 25 years but the prices have varied little, the Tim Adams brand delivers consistently high quality at very affordable prices.
