Trentham Estate have long held a reputation for producing some of Australia’s best value for money wines.
Owner and winemaker Anthony Murphy has a knack of surprising the wine trade and consumers alike with the quality of wines produced from the Trentham vineyards on the bank of the Murray River, approximately 15 km’s from Mildura. Trentham Estate sits on the NSW side of the Murray River.
Trentham Estate is another producer that we have worked with for over 25 years and accordingly is well established in WA.
The introduction of their ‘second label’ River Retreat in 2013 added a range of very competitively priced, varietal wines that are perfect as either house wines or function wines. Part proceeds from all sales of the River Retreat range are donated to the Murray River Foundation.
All vineyards in this Riverland region rely on irrigation water from the Murray River. The key to Trentham Estates quality lies in minimal irrigation and reduced yields, resulting in greater depth of varietal flavour across the range.
Their consistent wine show record suggests that they have found their niche as producers of strongly varietal, well made wines with an edge over most producers in terms of value.
Anthony Murphy with viticulturist brother Pat was a finalist in the Australian Gourmet Traveller WINE magazines ‘Winemaker of the Year’ awards in 2006, the first winemaking team from an irrigated Murray region to be nominated
