“Vibrant and lively, the Petite Arvine ’20 brings together fruity and citrus sensations with hints of flint, unfolding fresh and structured on the palate, with a long, sapid finish.”
Pieropan 2019 Soave Calvarino DOC, Veneto
“Calvarino ’19 opens in a whirlwind of white fruit, flowers and citrus sensations, even the first, timid mineral notes. In the mouth it’s striking for its sapidity, which lends strength to a crisp, taut and long-lasting palate.”
Ronco dei Tassi 2019 Fosarin DOC, Friuli
“Today Ronco dei Tassi is one of the most prestigious wineries in the Gorizia Hills.”
Jermann 2019 Vintage Tunina, Friuli
“The Vintage Tunina ’19 took home a Tre Bicchieri for the 33rd time. Its one of the best known and appreciated Italian wines in the world, a real source of pride for the entire area. It was 1975 when Silvio presented this creation, wrought of Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Picolit, Ribolla Gialla and Sauvignon. At the time it was considered a smash hit, now its an icon.”
Umani Ronchi 2018 Verdicchio Classico ‘Plenio’ Riserva DOCG, Marche
“This year the Plenio ’18, brilliant and complex in its aromas, stands out. Yellow fruits, citrus peel, spicy accents and balsamic nuances blend nicely on a palate of elegant poise and a deep, sapid harmony.”
Paitin 2016 ‘Sori Paitin’ Barbaresco Riserva Vecchie Vigne DOCG, Piedmont
“Exhibits commendable concentration and structure. Made with grapes from vines that go back more than 50 years, it is a juicy wine, rich in variegated, alluring aromas”
Negretti 2017 Barolo ‘Rive’ DOCG, Piedmont
“The ‘Rive’ ’17 also delivers with its multifaceted notes of raspberry, tobacco, aniseed and violet. The finesse that’s evident on the palate is well supported by a dense but elegant tannic weave; everything converges towards a long, sophisticated finish where fruity pulp makes an encore.”
San Leonardo 2016 IGT, Trentino
“The prestige of this iconic red is indisputable – it continues to occupy a place among those bottles influencing the direction of winemaking. As deep as it is elegant, the nose offers up spices, whiffs of pencil lead and wild berries, with a very long, unforgettable finish.”
Grattamacco 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC, Tuscany
“The Bolgheri Superiore Grattamacco ’18 has the stuff of a champion. Never forced, perfectly extracted, it plays on clear, fruity hints of freshly picked small red berries combined with equally delicate and refreshing herbaceous nuances. In the mouth it exhibits fine tannins and an iodized stroke that lengthens the palate, taking it far.”
Fuligni 2016 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tuscany
“The Brunello ’16 pours a beautiful, garnet-ruby red, unveiling a vibrant and lively nose of red fruits and spices. In the mouth it’s sapid, rich in alcohol and structured, closing long on notes of spices and scrub.”

Ridolfi 2016 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tuscany
“Ridolfi’s Brunello ’16 is certainly one of the best expressions of the the vintage, an epitome of elegance and finesse. It pours a lovely, clear and brilliant ruby garnet colour, announcing a complex nose that spans floral whiffs, tobacco and licorice. On the palate it’s deliciously fresh, but also solid and rich, with harmonious tannins giving way to a very long finish.”
Istine 2019 Chianti Classico Casanova dell’Aia DOCG, Tuscany
“The Chianti Classico Casanova dell’Aia ’19 is truly a cut above the rest. Elegant in its aromatic spectrum, it’s delicious in the mouth and rich in nuances, with fresh, floral bursts at the end.”
Boscarelli 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano ‘Il Nocio’ DOCG, Tuscany
“Fruity and spicy aromas characterize the Nobile Il Nocio ’17. Notable gustatory fullness is counterbalanced by a nice acidic fragrance and a well-sustained sapidity, all on an elegant backdrop made gutsy by a commendable, final tannic presence.”
Elena Fucci 2019 Aglianico del Vulture ‘Titolo’ DOC, Basilicata
“As always, one of the region’s most prominent wines, the Titolo, took home the Tre Becchieri. The 2019 reveals sumptuous elegance and deep complexity.”
Vallone 2016 ‘Graticciaia’, Puglia
“The Graticciaia is back at the top of its game. The 2016 offers up whiffs of creme caramel and tobacco, dried figs and chocolate accompanied by balsamic nuances, while the palate exhibits considerable volume and stuffing topped off by fine tannins and long, sapid finish. A well-deserved Tre Bicchieri.”
Pietradolce 2018 Etna Rosso ‘Barbagalli’ DOC, Sicily
“Tre Becchieri, once again, for the austere and elegant Etna Rosso Barbagalli ’18, a wine of great olfactory complexity, sapid, well structured, fine and long on the palate, magnificent in its sumptuous tannins.”
Le Casematte 2019 ‘Faro’ DOC, Sicily
“A range of wines increasingly striving for excellence (and extraordinary value for the money) saw the Faro ’19 once again take home Tre Becchieri: red berries, aromatic herbs, spices and smoked sea salt meet the nose. On the palate, its elegant, tonic and in addition to a muscular raciness, it exhibits a compact backbone and plenty of freshness, making for a highly pleasant drink right from the outset.”
Antonella Corda 2019 Cannonau di Sardegna DOC, Sardinia
“The Cannonau di Sardegna 2019 is back at the heights of excellence. A truly impressive example of the Cannonau Revolution, this Sardinian red is among the most elegant, fine and graceful wine out there.”
Santadi 2017 Carignano del Sulcis Superiore Terre Brune, Sardinia
“The Terre Brune is the top pick. Undoubtedly a modern wine, with oak still to be integrated, it’s still capable of offering up a multifaceted and complex nose and unveiling a full-bodied but highly drinkable palate.”

Borgoluce 2020 Prosecco Superiore Rive di Collalto Extra Brut DOCG, Veneto
“Once again the Rive di Collato Extra Brut ’20 succeeds in the difficult task of combining the typology’s trademark immediacy and fragrance with the depth and class of a great wine. Its aromas are dominated by a ripe, crisp white fleshed fruit, nicely rounded out by a flowery verve. In the mouth the character of the territory emerges with fullness, flavour and acidity, allowing the wine to lengthen decisively and with finesse.”
Ca’ del Bosco 2011 Franciacorta Dosage Zero Cuvee ‘Annamaria Clementi’ Riserva, Lombardy
“The enchanting Annamaria Clementi Riserva ’11 is one of the best versions ever, at the level of the celebrated 2004. It reveals uncommon aromatic breadth, coming through broad and energetic, complex, set to tempo by a very fine bead. The finish is a whirlwind of long sensations of sunny herbs and highly elegant spices.”
Scagliola 2020 Moscato d’Asti ‘Volo di Farfalle’ DOCG, Piedmont
“The Moscato d’Asti Volo di Farfalle ’20 is splendid, offering up aromas of peach and apricot, followed by notes of sage, candied orange peel and medicinal herbs. The palate is sapid, broad but free of heaviness and topped off by a long finish of great harmony and freshness.”
